Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati or Silk Smitha (born 2 December, 1960) was an Indian film actress and stage performer from Eluru, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.
She mostly worked in South Indian films only.
The reason for her popularity was all the stage shows done by her in the movies.
Famous by the name of an erotic actress, she first came into limelight by her role “Silk” in the Tamil movie Vandichakkaram. She entered the industry as a Side actress.
Because of her bold scenes in the movies, she becomes the sex symbol in 1980.
She covered alomst more than 450 films and appeared in many movies like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and also appeared in Hindi cinema.
Because of the dissatisfaction from her life, she committed suicide and found dead in her Chennai apartment on 23 September 1996.
