The 1970’s edition I read is surprisingly bad compared to his later works on firearms use in self defense. He describes techniques without showing them, advocates use of weapons that either wouldn’t work well or would get the officer in legal jeopardy, and either understates or uses hyperbole in describing the efficacy of the weapons described.
The book is also badly out of date, describing weapons (billys, blackjacks, and saps are three examples) that departments rarely (if ever) allow for carry and that can only be found online collector’s sites.
