Titleist was founded in by Phillip E. Young.
2. As an amateur, Young missed a short putt in a match at Bedford Country Club and felt that the fault lay with the ball, and not his own performance on the green. He took that theory one step further, and decided to x-ray the ball in question.
Intriguingly, he found that the centre was off, which lead to the start of a journey towards creating the perfect golf ball. To achieve this, Young contact MIT graduate Fred Bommer, and in their first Titleist ball was ready.

3. The name is actually pronounced 'title-
