Early Life and Education
Fern Britton was born in 1957 in Ealing, London, to actor Tony Britton and his wife Ruth.
She attended Dr Challoner's High School and the Central School of Speech and Drama.
Broadcast Journalism Career
After graduating, Britton worked for a touring theatre company before joining Westward Television in 1979.
She became a newsreader for the nightly program "Westward Diary." In 1981, she moved to BBC's local office, presenting the news program "Spotlight."
Britton later joined BBC One, becoming the youngest news anchor in the channel's history.
She also hosted programs on TVS, including "Coast to Coast," "Coast to Coast People," and "The Television Show."
